The critically-acclaimed “I.O.U.S.A.“ documentary, directed by Patrick Creadon (“Wordplay”), follows the “Fiscal Wake-Up Tour” and tells the story of America’s four key deficits – budget, savings, balance of payments and leadership – and their implications for the nation and U.S. citizens. Americans are faced with an ever-expanding government and military, increased foreign competition, and financial obligations that will become ever more difficult to honor absent meaningful reforms. As 78 million baby boomers begin to retire and collect benefits from over-extended entitlement programs, an economic crisis of epic proportions awaits. Using candid interviews, archival footage and economic data, “I.O.U.S.A.” presents a vivid, alarming profile of America’s current financial status. The conclusion offers suggestions for how best to recreate a fiscally sound nation for future generations viewing of the acclaimed documentary “I.O.U.S.A.

On Thursday the 21st of August Warren Buffett, Pete Peterson & Dave Walker conducted an Exclusive One Night Event.  You have heard me [Jay] quote David Walker, the former Comptroller General of the U.S. on the complete fiscal mess our government is in… $53 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities$175,000 in public debt for every man, woman, and child in America.  This is insane!!

About the movie:  Wake up, America! We’re on the brink of a financial meltdown. I.O.U.S.A. boldly examines the rapidly growing national debt and its consequences for the United States and its citizens. Burdened with an ever-expanding government and military, increased international competition, overextended entitlement programs, and debts to foreign countries that are becoming impossible to honor, America must mend its spendthrift ways or face an economic disaster of epic proportions.

Throughout history, the American government has found it nearly impossible to spend only what has been raised through taxes. Wielding candid interviews with both average American taxpayers and government officials, Sundance veteran Patrick Creadon (Wordplay) helps demystify the nation’s financial practices and policies. The film follows former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker as he crisscrosses the country explaining America’s unsustainable fiscal policies to its citizens.

With surgical precision, Creadon interweaves archival footage and economic data to paint a vivid and alarming profile of America’s current economic situation. The ultimate power of I.O.U.S.A. is that the film moves beyond doomsday rhetoric to proffer potential financial scenarios and propose solutions about how we can recreate a fiscally sound nation for future generations.

Creadon uses candid interviews and his featured subjects include Warren Buffett, Alan Greenspan, Paul O’Neill, Robert Rubin, and Paul Volcker, along with the Peter G. Peterson Foundation’s own David Walker and Bob Bixby of the Concord Coalition, a Foundation grantee.  [Congressman Ron Paul is featured as well.]

Pointedly topical and consummately nonpartisan, I.O.U.S.A. drives home the message that the only time for America’s financial future is now.

Folks, this film is the best wakeup call ever presented.  If at all possible, go see it [click here to find locations].  In the mean time…instead of continuing to whine about all this, it’s time to TAKE ACTION… go to this link:

and send a letter to your Congressmen TODAY!!

Also, I point you to the Peter G. Peterson Foundation (PGPF) web site, more specifically their “The State of the Union’s Finances: A Citizen’s Guide” pdf document [just click on the link and it should begin to download... it's a 5Mbyte file so please be patient].  The report is excellent with solutions and actions appearing on page 22 and beyond.  Then elsewhere on the PGPF home page you’ll find a link to “Get Involved” at the top.  You’ll again see a link to download the “The State of the Union’s Finances: A Citizen’s Guide“, but there are also multiple other things you can do.

If you love America like I do, then let’s get off our butts and do something about it!!

I believe that the current way taxes set and raised are totaly corrupt and senseless. They are more about social engeneering than paying the countries bills. Go online and read about the APT tax plan. It makes sense.
